Bhutan_2017

Within the mesmerizing Himalayan ranges lay this country of Bhutan, which is one on the most sustainable country of the world. The Buddhist cultural manifestation into the way of life has absorbed into the socio-political systems of this country. Traditional architecture of Bhutan considers the topography along with the climatic aspects of the mountainous terrain. The Bhutanese architecture of ordinary houses varies according to location and elevation. Two-storied buildings are common throughout western Bhutan; upper floors are often reserved for chapels, which double as guest quarters. Attics, insulated with bamboo mats and hay, often serve for drying animal skins and chilies. The two-storied typology residential houses have smaller windows on lower floors contrary to larger windows on upper floor. There is usually a large space left between the roof and walls for air to pass.
